Hosted by Egypt\u2019s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and supported by the Egyptian Mineral Resources <\/span>& Mining Industries <\/span>Authority (EMRA), the two-day Egypt Mining Forum concluded today at The Nile Ritz-Carlton, Cairo. Under the theme \u2018Accelerating Commercial Exploration, Discovery and Extraction,\u2019 over 5,000 delegates – including 300+ high-level officials, 80+ expert speakers and 75+ global exhibitors – came together <\/span>to discuss the next steps Egypt can take to position itself as a competitive mining destination, highlighting the progress made and the challenges that still exist.<\/span><\/p>\n

Building on Day 1\u2019s momentum, Day 2<\/span> dived deeper<\/span> into the <\/span>introduction of the new Mineral Exploitation Agreement Model<\/span>, investment risk-reward dynamics and the geological <\/span>potential <\/span>of the Eastern Desert. HE Eng Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, reaffirmed Egypt\u2019s proactive investment climate and infrastructure strengths <\/span>by stating <\/span>\u201cEgypt\u2019s unrivalled strategic location, extensive infrastructure and newly empowered Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority demonstrates our resolve to fast-track commercial exploration, attract premier domestic and international investment, and unlock the full value of our diverse mineral wealth for sustainable, long-term growth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the Forum, the Minister emphasised that environmental stewardship remained front and center of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources\u2019 six key pillars. In her keynote, HE Dr Yasmine Fouad, <\/span>Egypt\u2019s <\/span>Minister of Environment, reinforced the <\/span>government\u2019s commitment to sustainability by stating <\/span>\u201cEgypt is committed to fostering strategic collaboration between the environmental and mining sectors, streamlining policy frameworks to accelerate investment in exploration and value-added extraction, and demonstrating our unwavering dedication to sustainable, circular-economy growth across all mineral resources.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Representing industry leadership, <\/span>Eng.<\/span> Hoda Mansour, Managing Director & Vice Chair of Sukari Gold Mines, <\/span>representing AngloGold\u00a0Ashanti<\/span>, praised the rapid legislative alignment of the mining legislation with international best practice <\/span>demonstrating <\/span>unprecedented institutional collaboration <\/span>stating \u201ct<\/span>he unified commitment – across government, parliament and industry – to defined timelines has enabled us to enact critical reforms that will drive sustainable growth in Egypt\u2019s mining sector.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Adding a parliamentary perspective, Mohamed El Sallab, Chairman of the Industrial Committee of the Egyptian Parliament, highlighted the drive toward downstream value-addition <\/span>by stating<\/span> \u201ctransforming <\/span>EMRA <\/span>into a fully commercial <\/span>entity, will <\/span>drive domestic processing and manufacturing, optimise value-add at source and reinforce the competitiveness and resilience of Egypt\u2019s industrial ecosystem.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In a special <\/span>recognition <\/span>ceremony during Day 2 of the Technical Conference, HE Eng Karim Badawi recognised technical excellence by personally acknowledging the contributions of the technical <\/span>committee members and speakers<\/span>. Certificates of appreciation were presented to honour their <\/span>commitment to<\/span> advancing exploration, digital transformation and sustainable mining practices – underscoring the Forum\u2019s commitment to both policy reform and technical innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n
