Asharq News received the\u00a0Visual Media Award in the Best Documentary category<\/b>\u00a0for the episode \u201cSalt on a Wound\u201d from its programme \u201cIn Front of the Scenes\u201d<\/b>. The documentary explores the complex issue of Palestinian patients receiving medical treatment in Israeli hospitals, known as medical referrals from the Palestinian Authority to Israel.<\/p>\n
Asharq Al-Awsat won in two categories of the\u00a0Arab Journalism Award.\u00a0<\/b>Iraqi journalist and writer\u00a0Ali Al-Saray\u00a0<\/b>won\u00a0<\/b>in the\u00a0Political Journalism category\u00a0<\/b>for his investigative report titled:\u00a0\u201cIraq post the Aqsa Flood\u201d<\/b>, while\u00a0writer Ossama Al-Saeed\u00a0<\/b>won in the\u00a0Economic Journalism category<\/b>\u00a0for his piece\u00a0\u201cElectronic Games… Economic Rivalry and Cultural Conflict\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n
The renowned writer\u00a0Samir Atallah<\/b>\u00a0from Asharq Al-Awsat was honoured with the\u00a0\u201cMedia Personality of the Year\u201d award<\/b>, recognising his outstanding career in journalism and literature. His work spans several decades, including his daily column in Asharq Al-Awsat, which he has been writing since 1987, and a collection of novels and books on history and travel, such as \u201cThe Ink Caravan\u201d, \u201cGenerals of the East\u201d, \u201cYomna\u201d, and \u201cNew Year’s Eve on Dos Santos Island\u201d.<\/p>\n
