The funds will be channelled through eligible subsidiaries of EFG Finance, the group\u2019s non-bank financial institution (NBFI) platform, to businesses in rural areas and outside of Egypt\u2019s principal urban centres where it is hardest to access finance. Addressing these financing gaps will help to increase private-sector activity and strengthen economic resilience.<\/p>\n<p>The investment to face significant challenges. It also reinforces the EBRD&#8217;s ongoing commitment to supporting economies impacted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/home\/news-and-events\/news\/2026\/ebrd-aims-to-deploy-5-bn-in-economies-affected-by-middle-east-conflict.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.ebrd.com\/home\/news-and-events\/news\/2026\/ebrd-aims-to-deploy-5-bn-in-economies-affected-by-middle-east-conflict.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1790188598934000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2HuGrXIvIw1uuJe4_OSiBt\">Middle East conflict<\/a>, providing liquidity to the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was signed at EFG Hermes\u2019 12<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Investor London Conference, which brings together global institutional investors, listed companies and capital-market participants to discuss opportunities across the Middle East and North Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Francis Malige, EBRD Managing Director for Financial Institutions, said: \u201cExpanding economic opportunities for MSMEs is central to Egypt\u2019s long-term economic growth. Through this transaction, we are deepening our partnership with EFG Holding to ensure more local private businesses, especially those outside major cities, gain the resources they need to invest, innovate and ultimately contribute to a more resilient economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Karim Awad, <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Group CEO <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">of <\/span>EFG Holding<span lang=\"EN-US\">, <\/span>said: \u201cWe continue to broaden our collaboration with the EBRD, expanding the range of financing available to support MSMEs through our fully fledged NBFI platform.
